Northern NSW Football Surprised By HSG Announcement

11/4/2012

Northern NSW Football CEO David Eland has acknowledged his complete surprise at the announcement today by HSG that they will be relinquishing their A-League license for the Newcastle Jets.

The announcement today is contrary to the governing body’s recent discussions with the Jets in regard to player pathways and the discussions conducted over the last 12 months in relation to a strategic alliance between the two organisations to develop football in the Newcastle and Hunter Region and across Northern NSW.

‘We are aware of the FFA’s response to the HSG announcement and we will await to see how the situation plays out in the days ahead. The Northern NSW Football Board is meeting tomorrow night and clearly given the significance of this matter, it will be discussed in great detail as to the impact it has on our player development pathway and elite competitions as well as the wider impact it has beyond elite football, on the grassroots football community,‘ Northern NSW Football CEO David Eland said.
