Opportunity with West Ham

News from West Ham United:

We would like to invite you to the first ever West Ham United International Academy National Camp in Australia, and I am pleased to announce details for this camp at the following link.

The camp includes full accommodation, all meals, 2 full West Ham United International Academy kits including jersey, shorts and socks, and honest, unbiased verbal and written evaluation from West Ham Academy staff who will also provide technical and tactical instruction on the field as well as in classroom settings.
 
The camp will be under the direction of legendary West Ham United Academy Director, Tony Carr

As well as the West Ham Staff Coaches there will be several high profile Australian Coaches attending the camp.
 
There will also be a presentation on “ Mentoring Young Athletes” by former Australian Rugby League star Scott Hill. (This session will be open to any interested parents)
 
·          Dealing with the associated pressure of significant media attention;
·          Relying on sport as a source of income and livelihood;
·          Coping with transitions including relocating clubs, selection and de-selection, and retirement; and
·          Drug and alcohol abuse (performance enhancing or otherwise).
·          Establishing personal values, standards and culture.
·          Finding individual career lifestyle Balance (Study, Employment, Social, Sport)
·          Understanding the importance of correct Financial Advice
·          The value of correct Nutritional Advice
·          Dealing with the continued external distractions e.g Social Media, Relationships etc
·          Importance of Future Study/Employment planning e.g Media training, Speaker training
·          How personal Goals Setting and self evaluation is critical.
 
BIO
 
For the best part of a decade, Scott Hill was one of the most talented and skillful players in world rugby league.
The Forster/Tuncurry junior debuted wit h the Bulldogs in 1996, only eight months after playing first grade in the country. After debuting to big wraps from Bulldogs officials, he signed with the Hunter Mariners in the Super League competition in 1997. The Mariners were folded following the end of the Super League war and Hill was selected as an inaugural squad member of the Melbourne Storm.
Hill played exactly 246 professional first grade games in the toughest rugby league competitions in the world, earning a reputation as a highly skilled ball player, strong ball runner and robust defender.
His skill earned him a number of representative honors including five games for NSW and 12 games for the Kangaroos. Hill was a member of the first Blues team to whitewash an Origin series (2000) and also played a leading hand in the Kangaroos 2000 World Cup victory.
Scott played a major role in the senior leadership group at the Melbourne Storm during the development and implementation that has instilled the qualities, standards and culture the NRL’s most successful modern day club is founded on. Having the skills to take you team to the next level in facilitating the development of a know tried and proven strong successful culture framework.
After retiring from all competition following a stint with London Harlequins in the UK Super League, Scott has also become a best selling author interviewing Australia’s greatest Sports Coaches and Captains with his company Sports Wisdom Australia.
Hill is passionate about passing on what he has learned through the ups and downs of his very successful career to all sports athletes of all levels as he knows how important the role of a mentor is for Mental, Emotional and physical development of all athletes in their pursuit of their ultimate limit to reach the heights that before were impossible.
 
 
The best players will be offered the opportunity to train at the West Ham Academy in London in 2013. I hope to see you in a few weeks time!
