Finals Update:
After a hectic weekend of football, here is the current situation for all MBVFC teams left in the competition: Our Grade 14 Mixed won a great semi final eliminator against Rovers at the weekend beating them 1-0. This now means a daunting trip over to second place Casino Saturday morning for a place in the grand final up for grabs against Alstonville. Go you good things: Our Minor prems Grade 16 /1st Boys lost to second place Thistles at the weekend. This now means a game against TEBFC at Pine Ave on Friday evening at 6.30pm will determine who plays Thistles in the Grand Final. Our Grade 16 Girls lost a tightly fought game against table toppers Pottsville at the weekend. This now means they play Casino this Sunday at Pine Ave 10.30am kick off for a Grand Final place. Go girls. Our Womens Div 5 and Mens Div 1 teams both lost in their elimination games at the weekend meaning their fantastic seasons are over for another year. Well done both teams for kicking way above their own expectations to make it this far. See you next season. Our Womens Div 4 have gone and blitzed Lennox at the weekend 4-0 away from home in the result of the weekend which now means they play over at South Lismore on Sunday at 12.30pm for a Grand Final place. What a season this new team are having. Our fantastic Div 2 minor prems women team are at Pine Ave this Sunday for a Grand Final position up for grabs against second place Byron Bay. This should be a corker of a match and one well worth watching. Pine Ave kick off at 12.30pm. The mighty Div 7 men’s beat TEBFC away at the weekend which sets up yet another Grand Final playoff game for the club. This one is away against table toppers Ocean Shores and kicks off Saturday 12.30pm. Not for the squeamish!!! Finally our men’s Div 4 minor prems also are up against Ocean Shores for a Grand Final place this Friday night at Pine Ave 8pm kick off. These lads have had a fantastic year and would love to make the GF at first attempt. Come on down and cheers them on. Plenty of games to choose from this weekend, and lots of yelling and cheering to be had. Come on the valleys!!!! Below are the 14s Mixed who look very dapper at the weekend: The FFNC senior awards evening was a huge success for the biggest little club in the shire last night at Lismore Workers Club. Apart from all the wonderful individual and team performances including two golden boot winners and three fair play awards going to Div 4 and 5 women along with our Div 1 Mens teams the highlight of the evening was being awarded the Football Far North Coast Club Championship Trophy.
This award is handed to the best overall rated club based on the aggregate of the top three senior and top three junior teams. It highlights a clubs depth of talent and hard work. A special mention here must go to all the coaches and managers who have worked all year to a high standard under the watchful eye of our head coach Jonathan Flantz, whose tireless patience and commitment across all age groups has propelled our small club into a position in which trophies such as the one last night are within reach. Well done everyone :) As we move towards the last few games of the regular season we thought a run down of our senior teams current standings would be in order...so without further ado::
What a massive Saturday down at Pine Ave. Our two most consistent squads in recent years have once again set the bar. The best teams may not always win the Grand Final match but the best teams do always win the Minor Premierships and our 16s along with Men Div 4 once again reached that milestone today with games to spare. ( see 16s picture attached) Let’s hope they hold their form and come away with the Grand Final medals as well in September. Big ups lads and well done. Meanwhile the Div 7 men guaranteed a top 3 spot on the ladder today with a well fought out draw against Ballina. The best two defensive teams in the comp are both looking good for the run in to the finals. Men’s Div 1 also got a great result away at Tintenbar today which keeps their slim hopes of a finals place alive and kicking. Go boys. Womens Div 5’s must be the most exciting story at the club. Finishing last season without a win all year they are now in the top five after last evenings excellent win against Ballina and with a couple of good results in the next couple of weeks will also be playing finals football in September. Women’s 4ths are powering along in their first season and look really strong going into their last few games. Currently third in their group they play the league toppers Nimbin tomorrow at Pine Ave at 12.30. Come on down and cheer them on. Finally, our clubs most successful team currently is the Women’s Div2 team. Sitting pretty at the top of the pile, finals football is guaranteed. There is a strong likelihood also that this mob may be our first Top flight team for some time next year if they decide to move up and play Div 1. ( Which is the equivalent of Men’s Prems). So there is a big excitement all round the club for the coming weeks. Go Mullum!!!!!!!!!!! |
