In a hard game in Division 2, MBVFC and Workers finished with a Workers 0-1 win in an even game at Ocean Shores on Saturday afternoon.
The muddy pitch that had endured three matches in the 24 hours before made the technical game difficult and goalscoring chances were few and far between. In the previous Division 3 game, MBVFC managed a 1-0 win over Pottsville to record the second win of the season and our song sound out loud and proud across Ocean Shores. One of the main talking points was the field, which endured five matches within 24 hours and was in it worst state in about 10 years, according to observers. The weather continues to make it difficult to stick to the schedule and another rained out weekend will increase the pressure on the fixture calendar. As Pine Avenue is not going to be playable due to waterlogged fields, these fixtures have been transferred to Ocean Shores instead:
13/07/2012 19:00 Shores Men’s 6th Div. Pottsville v MBVFC 14/07/2012 11:00 Shores Grade 15/1st Div. MBVFC v Woodburn 14/07/2012 13:00 Shores Mens Third Div. MBVFC v Pottsville 14/07/2012 15:00 Shores Mens Second Div. MBVFC v Lismore Workers This Saturday, 14 July 2012 at 15:00h, now scheduled at Ocean Shores, MBVFC and Workers kick off the eagerly awaited Division 2 top-of-the-table clash which will decide who takes top spot in the table for now. The current standings:
POS TEAM P W L D F A GD PTS 1 Lismore Workers 9 8 0 1 30 7 23 25 2 Mullumbimby Brunswick 10 8 2 0 42 11 31 24 3 Byron Bay 9 6 3 0 19 16 3 18 Our boys with the league's strongest attack meeting the strongest defence should provide enough drama to watch for anyone. With Workers having a game in hand, a win would be great for our boys to not lose contact with the unbeaten Lismore side. Our team are just back from a difficult game at Burringbar, which they won 2-0. This and the very solid season with some powerful attacking football should give us confidence. The warm-up to the big one will be played from 13:00h, also at Ocean Shores, between our Division 3 side and Pottsville, which makes it a bottom-of-the table dinosaur fight. What more can you ask for? See you there! Unfortunately, the fields are too wet again and all home games have been rescheduled for tomorrow:
Saturday, 07 July 2012: Men Division 2 MBVFC vs Burringbar now at Burringbar at 15:00h. Men Division 3 MBVFC vs Suffolk Park now at Ocean Shores at 15:00h Men Division 6 MBVFC vs Thistles now at Lismore Thistles, T2, at 15:00h |
