We are incredibly happy to be talking and breathing football once again after five months away. The club is once again pleased to announce that all doors are open and business as usual has commenced. Coaches players volunteers and all other contributors to this great club can now make contact with us and get busy. We would like to shout out a big thankyou to our previous head coach Jonathan Flantz who has decided to move on from his coaching role and we would like to also mention the new building work going on down at Pine Ave. We received a $20000 dollar grant to upgrade our changing rooms to accommodate the ever increasing female participation rates at the club. New changing rooms showers and hopefully a small office space will be built on top of the current buildings and we need to raise another $30000 dollars to cover costs. This is a huge undertaking and we are putting out for anybody who could possibly help with fundraising events over the course of the season...please see below for events already planned and come along to support this major 2019 undertaking at the club....we are moving forward and need as much support from our local community as possible.... cheers MBVFC is committed to player well-being and so were delighted when Westfield Matildas Head Physiotherapist, David Battersby FACP, agreed to visit MBVFC on Saturday, 19 January, to run a session for coaches on how to effectively deliver the FIFA11+ warm up program to players. MBVFC extended the opportunity to all coaches from neighbouring clubs so that more players in the region could benefit. Thirty coaches, representing eight clubs across the FFNC region attended, listening intently and watching the demonstrations. . MBVFC is incredibly grateful to David for his generosity in travelling to Mullum and delivering the program. . The FIFA11+ warm up program has been proven to significantly reduce major injuries, particularly in female players between the ages of 13-18 who have a high risk of knee and ACL injury (up to a 50% reduction in injuries) - but the program is extremely beneficial to both males and females. More details on the program and its remarkable success in injury prevention can be found at: https://www.footballmedicineassociation.com.au/fifa11plus. Pre-season training for all females from 14 years to 100 - every Monday and Wednesday from 6.30pm to 8pm. All abilities welcome.
As part of our female football program, MBVFC took players on a road trip on Saturday, 19 January to watch some inspirational female footballers - Brisbane Roar Women vs Sydney FC in a W-League clash!
. What an awesome game! A mix of twenty two junior and senior female footballers from MBVFC were able to watch this game, thanks to the generosity and support of Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School and Brisbane Roar FC for making it possible. MBVFC would like to thank Jonathan for his commitment and loyalty to our club for many years as our head coach. Jon has been an incredible asset both in a coaching and mentoring role. His ability to bring the best out of our fantastic youth teams and turning them into highly respectable young men whilst making great footballers out of them at the same time has been a huge success. We thank him for his service and wish him the very best in whatever path he chooses. Thankyou again Jon from all at MBVFC. All coaching positions for the coming season are now open and if you feel that running a team or offering your services in this department is the thing for you please contact the club immediately. Once again our good friends at Stewarts Menswear in Mullum high street will be distributing our club apparel.. shorts socks hoodies etc. Please pop in and say hi and get yourself all ready for the new season ahead. Our new MBVFC hoodie is a fantastic looking top and with winter not too far away will sell out quickly so get one now.. They also carry a good selection of boots shinpads and other excellent clothing.
Last night, senior pre-season training started at MBVFC for men and women. While the first session was on a Monday, the subsequent sessions will be on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6.30pm at our Pine Ave fields, starting next week, 22 Jan 2019.
