The Men’s Div 5 team fought hard in their semi-final last night but ultimately lost 3-1 to the Rovers.
Battling strong winds in the first half, the team showed incredible resilience, holding off the top side in the competition for much of the game.
With the wind at their backs in the second half, the team created some great chances, including a memorable father-son combo between Hank and Jasper for the goal.
A special mention goes to the younger players—Sonny, Lawrence, Harry, and Milo—who fearlessly took on older, bigger, and crankier opponents throughout the season. Their courage and commitment have been inspiring.
Some commentary on the match:
“Getting one win away from a Grand Final is no mean feat!”
– Stefan
“They had to EARN that victory over us into the final, hence top work all round. Proud of us both on and off the pitch!”
– Marcus
“It’s been a pleasure to play the beautiful game with you all. Looking forward to many more!”
– Jacob, in his first season:
“My first (of many I’m sure) finals appearance for MBVFC. We are on an upward trajectory!”
– Luke
Thanks to everyone for their hard work, commitment, and teamwork this season. See you all next season.
And don’t forget the Preso night on Sunday, September 15th at the Bowlo from 5-7 PM!
