Funding available for refugee players

Funding available for refugee players

20/2/2012

The Community Relations Commission announced that funding for the Refugee Youth Sports  Sponsorship Program in 2012 is now available.
The program aims to reach refugee youth in rural and regional areas of New South Wales, enabling them to participate in sporting activities where financial disadvantage would otherwise preclude them, and provide an avenue for establishing connections with the local community.
The funding is available for sporting organisations in rural and regional New South Wales.
Eligible players should register to play with MBVFC. The club will then apply for funding to subsidise the registration costs for the players.
In order to be eligible for the subsidy, players must meet the following criteria:
·         25 years of age or younger
·         Unemployed or of school age
·         Settled in Australia within the last 5 years (refugee or special humanitarian entry)
·         Financially disadvantaged
