This Saturday will be HUGE down at Pine Ave with two blockbuster games. It is also the last home game for both of these teams before finals take place. Our Div1 boys who sit currently second on the ladder face an unbeaten top of the league Italo Stars at 3pm. Before that our Div4 boys also sitting second play top of the table Richmond Rovers .. This will be an afternoon of top quality super competitive football, so bring a chair down grab a pie and settle in for some action. See you there.
The best games are often the derby matches where passion and emotion run high. The Origin trophy was established in recent years to represent the MBVFC and Ocean Shores rivalry. The trophy is decided on an aggregate score from all teams facing each other in the same division each season. This season has only Division 1 facing off and last Friday night the mighty Valleys went over to Shara Boulevard, and got the result they needed to bring the trophy back to Pine Avenue for another year. A great 2-1 win keeps the lads in contention for finals football. Well done boys ..
Sometimes things go missing and the heart aches. Our club bench is one such thing. Sitting out the front of our changing rooms at Pine Avenue for nearly thirty years and now someone has decided to remove it. Our Presidents brother Michael crafted two of them which the club was gifted and one in particular has sat out the front of the changing rooms since then. It was recently lovingly restored and repainted in the club colours and looked a thousand dollars sitting out the front of our new renovations. If anyone knows anything of its whereabouts or can return it with no questions asked then the world will be a slightly happier place... Thankyou
FOOTNOTE:: The bench has been found.
A great weekend down at Pine Ave saw 'Female Football Week' kick off with NBN news cameras capturing the excitement CLICK HERE TO WATCH VIDEO
As you know, MBVFC has recently been successful in securing two grants - one of which was for building female changing rooms and that project is now complete... Yeahhhh ( we are the only clubs in the region to have a dedicated female changing room).
The refurbishment of the existing block will also be finalised this week and we are extremely grateful to Council for their support with that project. Thanks must also go out to Davey Mac for his fantastic artwork on the new block..its looks great.
We would like to invite everybody to the official opening of the new building at 9am on Sunday, 12 May. It is quite fitting that this is Mother's Day and that it is also the first home games of our four female junior and senior teams. The under 12 girls' team will be the first to use the new facilities before their game at 10am that day.
Justine Elliot MP has been invited to attend as she was instrumental in our grant application - and Dino Rosa from the IGA Mullumbimby, as he has generously helped us with the project shortfall and is our Major Sponsor. The Byron Echo newspaper has also been invited.
Come on down on Sunday morning and be part of a very exciting new stage in our clubs development
You may not ever get to be a kool as the guy wearing the new MBVFC hoodie but you can definitely look like him ... simply make your way down to Stewarts Menswear in Mullum and buy one of our new fleece lined winter jackets .
Its great to announce that football has properly kicked off down at MBVFC. The juniors began last weekend and the seniors are well into the season ahead. Our new ground will be opening next week and our new female changing rooms will be opened this Sunday...so finally everything is coming together... Drop down anytime to say hi or come and watch a game down at Pine Ave. Lets have a fantastic and enjoyable 2019

One of the biggest ongoing issues facing the best game in the world is maintaining the required number of referees to officiate all the games going on around the globe in any one week. Last weekend saw a spate of on field incidents where referees were attacked both verbally and physically for simply doing their job.. The instant respect which a simple uniform gave off in years gone by has diminished to such an extent that referees are quitting in droves in fear of their own safety. We see it at a local level and at a National one...Simon Hill's article this week which sheds light on one of footballs major concerts moving forward is well worth a read. GO HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE
